• 中山路: "中山" is the Chinese name of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founder of Republic of China.
• 解放路: "解放" means Liberation, in memory of the conquering of the city by the people's Liberation Army around the year of 1949, usually the way the PLR had taken to enter the city.
• 环城路: "环城" means round the city. Usually the roads around the old city. From 1980's on, most Chinese cities have expanded significantly to move the border of urban area far away from the former "roads around the city". In some cities, the roads around the old city(i.e. 环城路) are renamed as Inner Ring Road, or First Ring Road, and more ring roads, from inner to outer, from first to second, third and fourth..., are built one after another, like concentric rings.
