Dalian sits at the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula, China, facing the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea. It serves as a bridge between northeastern China and Inner Mongolia. Dalian is the gate to Beijing and Tianjin, and plays an important role in northeast Asia economic circle. Dalian has established trade and navigation relationships with more than 140 countries and regions around the world.
Dalian is a center of tourism, finance and information. As a vibrant economic center, it has a large number of new business developments. Dalian has a highly developed software industry and hosts the national software trade fair.
Known for its pleasant climate, scenic mountains and beaches, Dalian is a world famous tourist and summer resort. Efforts are ongoing to improve the environment and functions of the city. On June5th, 2001, Dalian was awarded one of the "World's 500 Best Environment Cities". It is the only city in China so honored, and one of only two cities in Asia.
