Chongzuo Municipality Overview
Chongzuo City is located in the south-western part of Guangxi, in the upper and middle stream of ZuoJiang River. It is 120 kilometers away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province, and 90 kilometers from Pingxiang City. It occupies an area of 17.345 square kilometers with a population of around 2.274.000 and among them 89.13 percent are of the Zhuang Nationality. It has the highest rate of Zhuang people.
Historically, it has always been a distributing center for commodities. In the General Plan of Guangxi Province, it has been planned as a center city of the western economic zone.
Chongzuo City is well-known for its magnificent natural scenery and unique man-made structures. Its famous tourist spots include the Zuojiang Inclined Pagada, one of the world's eight inclined pagodas, the Stone Forest - which has rarely been found in the whole country, and is the only one in Guangxi province, Nanjin Ancient Ferry, Huangchao castle, and Wenyagn Cave. A zoological tourist spot for White-head monkeys, which are rare animals and have the largest population here, has passed the evaluation of the national esperts and is now a world-class zoological park.
