Zhuanghe City is located in the southeast of Liaodong Peninsular, with Yellow Sea to its south, and backing the remaining part of Qianshan range in the north, and is situated in the center area of Dalian—Dandong Economic Passage. Its land area is 4,068 square km, sea area 2,700 square km, coastline 285 km and population 917,000.

Zhuanghe City is vast in territory, with green hills and clear waters. It has many scenic spots, such as Bingyugou—entitled “Small Guilin in the North”, nature-carving Nine Islands Under the Sea, and “Ancient Town Among Towns and Hills” with a long history. With 1,150,000 mu fertile cultivated area, Zhuanghe is the base of national high quality commodity grain. It is vast in sea area, abounds in all kinds of high quality marine products, including multi-color clam, prawn, and sea cucumber, and entitled “Global Shellfish Reserve”. Zhuanghe is rich in minerals: its silica is great in reserve and good in quality, and its gold reserves stay the top in Liaoning Province. Zhuanghe is rich in fresh water resource and is the water source of water supply of Dalian City, with 364 rivers, over 40 large or medium or small reservoirs, and 18.8 billion cubic meter fresh water reserves. Zhuanghe City is nation-programmed reserve industry base and energy base in the south of Liaoning Province, and its industry covers relatively almost every kind.

The economic construction and social causes of Zhuanghe City have made accelerated progress. In 2003, its GNP reached 116.3 billion yuan with an average rate of 13.5% per year, and its revenue income reached 4.2 billion yuan with yearly average increase of 20%. Garden Mouth Industry Zone, Korean Industry Zone and Japanese Industry Zone have been constructed in certain scope and have become favorite investment places of overseas businessmen. The construction of Modernized Agriculture Zone is solidly progressing. Six large production bases have been established and they are High Quality Rice Base, Conserve Soil Vegetable Base, High Quality livestock Base, Fine Breeding Aquatic Product Base, Famous and Unique fruit base and Green Edible Fungi Base. Zhuanghe has been established as the “Production Demonstration Base of No Pollution Produce in China” and the city of “Export Base of Fruit and Fungi of Liaoning Province”. Its infrastructure construction emphasizing on transport has made new progress. The development of education, science and culture is booming and people’s living standard has increased distinctly.
