Overview
Jinan, situated inland the Shandong province, Mt. Tai to the south and the Yellow River in the north, is a sub-provincial city and the capital of Shandong Province in the east of People's Republic of China. Besides, it is also the political, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, technological and financial center of Shandong province.
Jinan literally means "south of the Ji (Waters)". Ji is the old Ji River, which flowed to the north of the city, however, the Ji River disappeared in 1852 when the Yellow River changed its course northwards and took over its bed. Jinan is also referred to by the nickname "City of Springs" (Chinese: 泉城; pinyin: Quán Chéng), because of the many artesian springs in the urban city center and its surroundings.
The climate of Jinan belongs to continental monsoon climate, so it enjoys adequate sunshine and rainfall in summer. The annual average temperature is 14.3℃ and the lowest temperature is about minus 14.9℃ while the highest is 40.5℃. The annual average rainfall is 660.7 mm.
Famous and attractive scenic spots, such as Baotu Spring Park, Daming Lake, the Thousand Buddha Mountain, and so on.
